Steal Or Die Emotes Guide: The Dance Wheel, Locker and the Whistle

Steal Or Die emotes are dances on a Z-key wheel — up to 8 slots from the shop's Emotes tab, rebirth unlocks, or trades. What's confirmed on screen, and what isn't.

FAQ

How do you get emotes in Steal Or Die?
Three routes are confirmed in writing. The emote cards themselves say "Buy it in the SHOP (EMOTES)"; the Absolute card offers "The reward for REBIRTH 10 (P) · or trade for it"; and Money Rain is "VIPs only", bundled with the VIP pass from the shop's Store tab. The price of any emote has never been shown on camera — the Emotes tab itself has not been opened in available footage.
How do you use the emote wheel in Steal Or Die?
The locker's own footer says "WHEEL 0/8 · Z opens it anywhere" — press Z and the wheel opens whatever you are doing, and the header caps it at eight dances. A fresh account starts at 0/8 with every dance locked, so the wheel is empty until you buy, unlock or trade for something. The locker panel itself can be opened mid-match too.
Do emotes give away your position in Steal Or Die?
No card prints an explicit warning, but everything the game does say points that way. Shake It Out is Mythic rarity and its full description is "Stomps, slams and a spin. Loud and proud." — the selling point is the noise. The whistle is a deliberate broadcast other players hear and comment on, and the entity hunts by sound. Treat mid-round noise as a beacon; the hiding guide breaks down the full noise rules.
Can you trade emotes in Steal Or Die?
Yes, twice-confirmed: the trade menu's own subtitle lists "skins, dances and money" as the three tradables, and the Absolute emote card offers "or trade for it" as an alternative to the Rebirth 10 unlock. No official price list for traded dances exists — any dollar figure is community opinion. The trading guide covers what the menu does and does not confirm.
What emotes exist in Steal Or Die?
Sixteen named dances have been sighted in the locker grid: Money Rain, Absolute, Ascension, Reborn, Boss Fight, Poster Boy, Shake It Out, Billie Jean, Adrenaline, Laid Back, Running Faster, Point & Laugh, Hard Hitter, Player One, Stadium Rave and Halo Glide. Rarity tiers visible on the cards include Legendary, Mythic and a Secret SSS+ tier — the same rarity language the loot system uses.

Every Roblox horror game has a dance button, and Steal Or Die is no exception — but it is in no hurry to explain it. The dances live in a wheel you will never see during the tutorial, the shop tab that sells them has never been opened in public footage, and the one emote everyone actually has from minute one is a whistle. This page collects what the game’s own menus say about the system, on screen, and marks the exact line where the confirmed record ends.

What are emotes in Steal Or Die?

The game defines them in one line. Open the locker — L from the lobby — and the Emotes tab header reads: “Your dances. Up to 8 on the wheel.” The shop’s tab list says the same thing in three words: Emotes, “dances for the wheel”. So an emote is a dance, the wheel holds up to eight of them, and you equip dances to the wheel rather than firing them one by one from a menu.

The same footer settles the “how” before you even ask: “WHEEL 0/8 · Z opens it anywhere.” Z is the in-match emote wheel key, and “anywhere” is doing real work in that sentence — the locker panel itself opens mid-match just as it does in the lobby, which one creator’s session demonstrates by browsing dances while the match clock runs behind the panel.

How do you get emotes in Steal Or Die?

Three routes are confirmed in the game’s own writing, and a fourth is a reasonable read:

  • Buy them. Poster Boy’s card ends with “Buy it in the SHOP (EMOTES)”, and Shake It Out’s repeats it. The shop’s Emotes tab is the intended purchase path — it just has never been opened on camera, so the price list below stays honestly blank.
  • Hit rebirth milestones. The grid carries rebirth badges on its top row: Absolute is tagged REBIRTH 10, Ascension REBIRTH 5, Reborn REBIRTH 3. Absolute’s card spells out the deal: “The reward for REBIRTH 10 (P) · or trade for it” — the P in parentheses being the Rebirth menu key that sits at the bottom of the lobby rail. That makes the rarest confirmed dance a prestige reward, which the rebirth guide puts in loop context.
  • Trade for them. “Or trade for it” is the game itself confirming dances change hands between players — the same three-category list (skins, dances, money) the trade menu prints. The mechanics live in the trading guide.
  • The VIP pass. Money Rain’s card reads “Make it rain. VIPs only. Comes with the VIP pass (SHOP → STORE)” — a Legendary dance bundled with a paid pass from the Store tab, the Robux side of the shop that the cases guide walks through tab by tab.

The ABSOLUTE emote card in Steal Or Die’s locker, a Secret SSS+ dance listed as the reward for Rebirth 10 or a player trade Absolute’s card in full: SECRET · SSS+ rarity, “Stomp. Rise. Light a black sun. Come back down through the floor”, and the unlock line “The reward for REBIRTH 10 (P) · or trade for it”. See 0:25 in the source video.

How much do emotes cost in Steal Or Die?

Nobody outside Vantage Gameworks knows, and this page would rather say that than invent a price table. The Emotes tab has not been clicked open in any session this site could verify, so not one emote price has appeared on screen. What the confirmed record does have is the economy around it: permanent functional upgrades run from $1,250 to $2,000 and entity unlocks from $4,899 to $6,499, and the Store tab — where Money Rain’s VIP pass lives — is the Robux side of the menu. If a site quotes you a fixed price per emote, it is a guess dressed as data. When the tab finally gets filmed, the value list is where confirmed numbers get logged.

What emotes are in the locker?

The grid seen on camera names sixteen dances: Money Rain, Absolute, Ascension, Reborn, Boss Fight, Poster Boy, Shake It Out, Billie Jean, Adrenaline, Laid Back, Running Faster, Point & Laugh, Hard Hitter, Player One, Stadium Rave and Halo Glide — and the grid scrolls, so that is a floor, not a ceiling. The cards carry the same rarity language as loot: Poster Boy and Money Rain are Legendary, Shake It Out is Mythic, and Absolute sits in a tier of its own, Secret · SSS+. Colored stripes along the card tops sort the rest of the grid the same way.

Two details worth reading closely. First, a fresh account owns none of it — the wheel counter starts at 0/8 and every card reads LOCKED, so the default emote loadout is the whistle and nothing else. Second, the locker holds two more cosmetic tabs beside Emotes — Balls (“The ball in your hands on the lobby court”) and Backpacks — so dances are one branch of a wider cosmetic tree, not the whole thing.

Do emotes give away your position in Steal Or Die?

No card prints the words “this reveals you”, and this page will not pretend one does. But the game’s own flavor text sells nothing except noise: Shake It Out — the Mythic one — is “Stomps, slams and a spin. Loud and proud.” Poster Boy promises “the room is watching.” The entity hunts by hearing, crouching exists to cut footstep noise, and the hiding guide documents the whole noise model — including the microphone indicator. A dance is a louder, longer, more deliberate version of the sounds the entity already keys on. The safe read: the wheel is for the lobby court, and mid-round you are advertising.

What does the whistle do in Steal Or Die?

The whistle is the one emote-adjacent tool every player has from the first minute, and it works mid-match: it sits in the side menu between Skill Tree and Locker with three pips beside it, and blowing it is a loud, deliberate signal. Community sessions keep catching players using it exactly that way — one streamer’s run has other players whistling twice and complaining about it (“Why you whistling? What is it? You can whistle, dude. You should get paid for that if you whistle.”). That is the honest description of the risk too: a whistle is a broadcast, and the thing hunting you has ears.

Can you trade emotes in Steal Or Die?

Yes, and the game says so twice. The trade menu’s instruction line reads “Pick someone. Skins, dances and money can all change hands.” — dances are one of the three official tradables — and Absolute’s card lists “or trade for it” as a literal alternative unlock path. What no footage has captured is the trade itself completing, so values are pure community opinion: there is no official price for a dance any more than for a case skin. Trade for dances you want, not numbers you have seen somewhere.

Sources and footage credit

The locker panels, emote cards and shop context on this page come from VendoPlus’s short Steal Or Die walkthrough (watch the source video on YouTube), which opens the locker and reads the cards on a fresh account. The mid-match whistle shot comes from FusionZGamer’s long session (also on YouTube). Menu strings — including “Your dances. Up to 8 on the wheel.”, “WHEEL 0/8 · Z opens it anywhere” and every card quote — are transcribed exactly as rendered on screen. Emote prices, drop sources beyond the cards quoted above, and any completed dance trade remain unconfirmed; this page will say so until footage exists.
